Gubana, the traditional Friulian dessert for the Epiphany

Friuli. Traditional Cake.

The recipe of Gubana (gubane in Friuli, gubanca in Slovenia) has very ancient origins that date from the Natisone River Valleys, in the province of Udine, near the Slovenian border.

A cake appreciated throughout Friuli and a symbol of prosperity and good wishes for its inhabitants.
It is prepared during the holidays, especially at Christmas and Epiphany.

Recognized for its spiral shape, it is made with a sweet dough filled with nuts, raisins, grappa, sugar and finally pine nuts. After you bake it, taste it still warm.

We recommend it with our Picolit.

Picolit

One of the Friulian Enologic prides. In Torre Rosazza we can count on the greatest extension of "Picolit dei Colli Orientali del Friuli" vineyards. This wine possesses a special and symbolic value that underlines a deep connection with the area, that has been established by the estate since its origins. Picolit vineyards are scattered all across the estate, in areas with greater exposure to the south and west. One of our first vineyards has been cultivated in Picolit since 1978.
