  • Features

Originally from the Bordolese area, this vine has been widespread throughout Friuli since the second half of the 1800s. In the hilly territory of Rosazzo, it has found an ideal habitat for expressing its great elegance and full-bodied character that’s known for its aristocratic feel.

  • Vinification

After crushing, the marcs are left to macerate in contact with the musts for approx. a week at temperatures ranging between 25° and 28° C. In this part of the wine-making process, frequent pumping over allows for improved extraction of color and aroma from the skins. Once alcoholic fermentation is completed, the malolactic process is carried out and the wine is placed in 300-liter casks, where it stays for approximately 6 months. An in-bottle refining stage follows.

  • Wine

This somber ruby-red wine offers an intense, well-defined bouquet where you’ll immediately perceive hints of blackberry and black currents, which are followed by the suggestion of pepper, laurel and licorice. To the palate, it offers a full-bodied taste with a good level of complexity and persistence. Its finish is characterized by a light, intriguing flavor of wood.

  • Matches

Try this wine with savory grilled meats, shish-ka-bobs and meatballs or first courses featuring egg pasta topped with meat sauce.
